Sunday 3 Dec 2023 - weather

The forecast is not too bad...

We have been getting some questions about whether or not we will be cancelling the AC training on Sunday because of the weather.

At the moment, looking at the forecasts, it seems that frost will not be a problem on Sunday.

We can, of course, never be 100% sure, but as a rule, the coaches will make a decision on the day when they get to the pitch.

I realise that doesn't help those of you that have to travel a long distance or who have the additional cost of a ferry crossing, but we have to cater for hundreds of players and re-scheduling sessions with the congested calendar we have, is a huge challenge.

So, as long as the pitch is safe, hockey will continue.

Remember to always check your squad page on this website before the session as any last minute changes will be published there.

Last Saturday (8th July 2023) saw the final session of the newly formed Hampshire PC. We had hoped for some stiff opposition but in the end, we were unable to get that organised, so the U15s played the U18s and some fantastic hockey was on display!

The new Talent Academy format has resulted in a lack of opportunities for further development of players beyond AC (County hockey), which is not sitting well with the members of the Hampshire PP committee.

I do not know what the immediate and longer term future looks like for talent development under England Hockey but we are going to continue to deliver an exciting sub-county and county programme in order to keep giving our young players a place to develop their skills and become the best they can be.
